Local Authority – Nice N Sleazy’s

Local Authority – Nice N Sleazy’s

My workmate had recommended Local Authority to me and after checking them out on youtube I agreed to go and see them at Nice’N’Sleazy.

Beth Gibbons – Usher Hall

Beth Gibbons – Usher Hall

I saw Beth Gibbons perform solo many years ago in The Barrowland and I also saw Portishead play there which were both great gigs.  Having got Beth’s new album when it came out there was no way I was going to miss her show at The Usher Hall

Jane’s Addiction – Glasgow Barrowland

Jane’s Addiction – Glasgow Barrowland

I was very happy to find a last minute ticket for Jane’s Addiction as they were like hen’s teeth. I was even more happy when later in the tour they had a fight onstage and it would seem they will never play together again.

Bruce Springsteen – Stadium of Light

Bruce Springsteen – Stadium of Light

I couldn’t afford tickets to see Bruce when he played Edinburgh last year but in the meantime I had got a job and so I bought cheap tickets to see him Sunderland, which isn’t too far away.

Acid Mothers Temple – Dundee

Acid Mothers Temple – Dundee

I took Marcy and Emma to Dundee for them to witness Acid Mother’s Temple blow up the stage for the first time. One lasted better than the other.

Best Concerts Ever (Hand-picked)

  • Bruce Springsteen — Stadium of Light — The Boss. Three hours. Every penny worth it.
  • PJ Harvey — Glasgow — One of the greatest live performers I’ve ever seen.
  • The Flaming Lips — Edinburgh — Absolute chaos in the best way. I’ve seen them twice and both times were unforgettable.
  • Van Morrison — Usher Hall — I’ve reviewed multiple Van Morrison gigs across Scotland, Belfast, and beyond. The man delivers every time.
  • Mark Knopfler — A Dire Straits fan since forever. This one meant a lot.
  • Mogwai — Barrowlands — Scottish legends on their home turf.
  • My Bloody Valentine — OVO Hydro — Bring earplugs. Seriously.
  • Primal Scream — Glasgow Barrowlands — Barrowlands on a good night is the best venue in Scotland. This was a good night.
  • Slowdive — Glasgow Barrowland — Shoegaze perfection.
  • Godspeed You! Black Emperor — Glasgow Barrowland — Not for everyone. Absolutely for me.
