My workmate, Bruce, had recommended Local Authority to me and after checking them out on youtube I agreed to go and see them with him at Nice’n’Sleazy in Glasgow. The support band were called Cloaks and in April 2025 they decided to call it a day.

I particularly liked their song, Enough of Hate, which if it had the airplay would certainly be a modern day classic recognised by the masses but alas unless you have a big record company behind you it is hard to hit those heights these days. Here is their set which I had to get up and dance to by the end, where the camera work may be a bit wonky.
I managed to have a few words Gary and Jess from the band outside the venue.
As I’m sure you could tell they are really lovely people and here’s hoping they get more widely recognised. Pete Doherty is a big fan of theirs and doing support gigs with The Libertines certainly won’t harm them.
