So having returned to Scotland from Turkey I thought I should start doing a few low key gigs to test out my comedy muscles as they have not had much of a work out in the past four years.

I noticed a gig run by Oliver Pissed called Chucklefuck Circus in the Basement of Tennants Bar in Glasgow where I have performed a few times before and it seemed like a good starter for ten to get my feet wet again.

As the gig was advertised as alternative comedy I sent Oliver a message asking if Nob could do a few poems and got a positive reply.

I made a video blog on my way to the gig and I started it at the train station where I saw this Bank of Scotland poster which made me talk about how it is part of the process to create a cashless society. Don’t get me started on that one.

Despite it only being the 23rd of November practically every shop I walked past in Glasgow’s Town centre had some bloody Christmas song blasting out of it and of course there were Christmas lights up everywhere.

I mean really, how far back do we need to start this Christmas pish in order to keep the shops afloat until next years pish?

Can we please get a grip on this one sometime soon and come to a consensus that it is the biggest load of bollocks going?

Nope? I am flying solo on that one too eh? Story of my life.

Still, this over large pointless Dear looked pretty cool.

As I had over an hour before I had to be at the venue, I had decided to walk to the venue rather than take the Underground and maybe the lights and Christmas songs had distracted me cause I ended up going the wrong way on Argyle street and then had to double back on myself which added a good 20 minutes to the walk.

I couldn’t believe the amount of Homeless people on the Streets. The good Samaritan in me would like to help them all but like most people I guess, I just walk past them thanking myself for my lucky stars.

If I had money I would have bought them all a German sausage well, at least, in theory.

By the time I eventually got to the venue just before starting time, I was knackered but I had time to catch my breath as no punters had turned up yet.

I introduced myself to Oliver, pictured below, and the other comedians and then took a seat beside Andrew Vannan  who it turns out, although a comedian, is one of my favourite audience members ever because he has a real hearty laugh that creates a warm vibe in the room.

After the interval Nob done his first 10 minutes on Scottish turf for a while which although he intended to just stick to the poetry he couldn’t help himself going off on tangents.
Some of the other acts included Andy Draper, Iain MacDonald, Scott Steele and to finish the evening we had Yindy The Cat.

At the end of the night I managed to get a shot of Oliver, Yinday and Andrew with me on the stage.

During Nobs set he sensed that one lady was uncomfortable with something and so he asked her if she was Ok. She said that he was being a bit hard on a young lad in the audience because he was a Rangers supporter. Nob explained that he was a Hibs supporter and so she let him off.

Nob can be a bit rough round the edges for some but at the end of the night she was ok and said that all the comedians were really brave to which I replied yeah, especially when there are more comedians than audience members.

I am not a big fan of gigs like those as the comedians tend to analyse too much and not laugh, myself included.

I made sure I found out where the Underground was and before jumping on the train I took a few snaps of some interesting artwork they had as you went down the steps to the platform.

Then I met the young Rangers supporter and his friend. He told me that he didn’t have an issue at all with Nob, so I felt a bit better about that.

The two lads were English and one of them only came to study at Glasgow Uni because he is a Rangers supporter and he had a Season Ticket, so it was easier to get to the games every week if he lived in same country.

I didn’t order a taxi to pick me up at Linlithgow train station and as there was no Taxi rank around I decided to walk back to Bo’ness which took me 1 hour and 45 minutes, so it was safe to say I had done enough walking by the time the night was over.

It was good for Nob to get back to business and hopefully he will get another gig in the future at the Basement Bar and it is a cool venue.

Oliver is going to run gigs at Nice and Sleazy’s in the New Year so hopefully he may get a spot there too.
