I offered singer songwriter Martin Metcalfe the use of my services in videoing his band Goodbye Mr Mackenzie in their triumphant return to the Glasgow Barrowland on their reunion tour to mark the 30th anniversary of Good Deeds and Dirty Rags.
The support act Seil Lien also sings in the place of Shirley Manson in GMM.
It turned out they were already planning on videoing the gig to make a documentary but Martin said I could sit up the back and film it so it could provide a wide angle shot to use in the movie and so I was happy to oblige.
Here is the trailer for the documentary and every time you see the footage from the back of the room that was me that was.
Emma was thrilled to get a photographers pass and also quite impressed when Martin showed up in the bar after the gig and said ‘Billy Watson’ as he saw us sitting in the bar area. I had a brief chat with Martin but he was with his family and so didn’t want to intrude.
I did get my photo taken with Big John who is the only person to perform with Nirvana on stage as he was their roadie for a while and joined them a few times.
