Phil Zimmerman is a stand-up comedian, actor, singer-songwriter, peace activist and comedy club promoter. He has been performing since 1999 and is known for his off-the-wall physical character act Pigeonman, a combination of stand-up, mime and clowning that is genuinely unlike anything else on the circuit. His legendary appearance on Never Mind the Buzzcocks in 2007, where he was credited as The Psychotic Looking Man, earned him cult status after he managed to upstage presenter Simon Amstell without moving a muscle. Bill Bailey compared him to a character from the horror film Wrong Turn. He ran the No5 Club at the Drayton Court in Ealing for ten years and has worked alongside Harry Hill, Omid Djalili, Lee Mack, Stewart Lee and Reginald D Hunter. He also landed a role in Tim Burton’s Dumbo alongside Danny DeVito and Colin Farrell.
I met Phil at an event called Comcast in Derby where we were both performing and we were interviewed together by Jacqui Deevoy recently. It was a pleasure to get him on my show for a chinwag, despite his tardiness.
