Thankfully the run from hell was on it’s last night and once again no audience turned up. Surely that has to be some kind of record. Six nights with no punters. Well done me. So as not to make it a wasted journey I made some videos and even got Emma roped in to introducing me.
Here is my round up of my festival experience.
I thought I would make a video to promote my books.
I didn’t have the heart to do any more poems tonight so we hit the town and lo and behold, as I was walking down the grassmarket someone shouts out “Billy” to me, referring to Billy Connolly as I must look like him according to many, so I went over to them and used the opportunity to show the group of lads my book. Next thing you know they ask me to do something from it and whalla, I have my first audience of the fringe.
One guy wanted to give me a tenner for just the show but I forced a copy of my book on him. Later on I recorded a short video going back to the car.
So, at least it wasn’t a total wipe out and I managed to sell one book which didn’t cover the petrol or the posters cost but at least made me feel like not everyone hates me.
