I heard a few Mary Gauthier songs on youtube over the years and recently bought one of her cd’s so I knew she was a quality songwriter. Jaimee Harris was her support act and she was absolutely fantastic. So good I bought all three of her cd’s that she had for sale and they are all really great too. Here is her set for your enjoyment.
Jaimee mentioned that she was in a relationship with Mary and as well as being support she is also backing singer and guitarist for her. Mary was not only a fine songwriter but also a great storyteller. Well, you would expect that as her songs are influenced by John Prine who ended up being a close friend of hers and she even sung a song about John’s passing.
All in all an absolutely brilliant night of quality songs and a feeling of human connection that is so rare these days. If you get the chance to see either of these artists you should go. You won’t regret it. Just watch the videos above and you’ll be convinced, I’m sure.
