We went to see Ian McNabb in Edinburgh on my birthday in 2022 where we sat at the front of the stage and then gave him a copy of my book, Buckin’ Cunny Funt, afterwards. I, of course, bought some of his CDs that night and as they were selling them at a fiver each in Glasgow, I went home with a pile more.
I hadn’t heard much of The Icicle Works stuff but from what I had, I knew it would be another top gig. Part of the reason for going was because Ian said he was going to support the band with a solo set, which he did do on the first date of the tour but he has been having back issues so I think that’s why he didn’t do it the night we went. It was also the reason for him sitting down for most of the set, which we didn’t mind as we were in the front row.
