Not so much so I could show what albums have made the biggest impression on me but also so I could check out the albums other people have been influenced by, although that is perhaps not such a great idea as I have enough cd’s already and don’t need any excuse to buy more.
I have chosen one song from each batch that particularly stood out although again with each album I could probably choose at least three or four.
Formative Years

First Nine
This batch are the albums that have had the biggest impression on me, or the ones I returned to the most over the years. I am only including one album by each artist here as Van and Bob would dominate too much otherwise.
I included the various one of The Psychedelic Years as this led to an exploration of many other artists included in it and was played to death back in the day.

Ten to Eighteen
I extended the first nine to another nine as I remembered a couple of others that were important to me growing up, particularly the Bruce Springsteen box set. I had to include the second edition of The Psychedelic Years Revisited for the same reason as above.

Black Artists

Female Artists

Krautrock
The older I get the more I am appreciating krautrock although I am not sure Emma has quite the same affection for them as I do. Here are ones that have stuck out but there are a lot more I could have easily listed in their place. Tago Mago is one that would always be there though as it is a truly epic piece of work.

Films

You may think Grease is a strange choice but there is no denying I used to watch it a lot when I had the VHS of it and I actually performed in stage show of Grease when I was 32 which was a big thrill.
I love the Sha Na Na song, ‘Those Magic Changes’ the most from the movie but it wasn’t until rehearsing for the stage show that I realised that. This is me miming along to it in the actual show.
