My son has moved in with me so that and my financial situation kind of curtails my old drinking habits, which I have to say, isn’t exactly a bad thing but I do miss socialising.

Fortunately the local Couchsurfing crowd meet up regularly at various cafe’s in Antalya and I could take my son there and drink tea and no-one would think any less of me. Aynur came along too and before we went to the cafe we met her friend Tuna at Hadrians Gate and then ambled our way through Kaleiçi in search of Hoppa Meyhane which would have been easier if any of us had studied the facebook map in any detail.

We got to the rough area and had to stop outside a shop to ask directions. My son spotted a Plasma Ball and we all know how much fun one of them is to an 11 year old.

Thankfully we were pointed in the right direction and found the place fairly easily. Ellis discovered a small Watermelon behind his seat which he claimed looked like a Heart, so who was I to argue with him. I gave it to Aynur for a pose.

The he got his hands on this Candle holder. So I managed to get it off him, before he broke it, by asking him to take a photo of me, which as you probably know, I don’t mind at all.

This cat was lurking around the tables looking for a bit to eat and although it looked relatively harmless when I reached out my hand to stroke it, it lashed out at me with it’s very sharp and pointy claws!

I know they were sharp and pointy because one of them went through my skin and actually drew blood! Which highly amused my son, of course. Aynur was suggesting I go to a Doctor but I’ve had bigger cuts shaving myself, so I didn’t think it necessary. It was nice to have someone who cares though.

Ellis then got his grubby paws on my camera as he had not tablet or internet to amuse himself with he started snapping away. In the slideshow below I have spared you the numerous selfies he took but you’ll get the idea from this one.

He did take a couple of the scene as well, including one which captured the guy opposite us, John. He was on holiday from England and was quite taken with Antalya and it’s scenery. I think he especially liked the Women here and was in his element trying to chat up Aynur and Tuna.

At one point he asked them “Are you two lovers?”. I don’t normally like to do this but I thought it too good an opportunity not to so I said “Actually, Aynur is my wife”. Then I watched him squirm.

It was some kind of anniversary for this couple which I was delighted with as that meant Free Cake! Pretty tasty is was too, as usual. I do like the Cakes they do here, they always go down a treat and as the guy sitting next to me didn’t want his and Aynur always leaves some, I got more than my quota for sure.

That night, I also had a good chat with Umut who is one of the organisers. He put me in contact with someone who knew a Boss of a School about the possibility of a job, which I will talk about in my next blog.

Here I am with Tuna and my old friend Mustafa who runs Sefa Hamam. I always enjoy catching up with him.

So, all night I drank two teas and got some lovely free cake into the bargain. A cheap but most enjoyable evening with the Couchsurfers on Facebook. I must do it again sometime soon.
