So many avenues lead away from righteousness
That it is nearly impossible to be a good man
Some people think that the church is outdated
But the teachings of Jesus were not a flash in the pan
I think people need a solid moral foundation
As a guide for them to live their life with esteem
Without that we get lost in the darkness
Get led down the path of every extreme
Aleister Crowley has a very famous saying
Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the law
This was passed onto him from a demonic entity
Yet we have taken it as read without any flaw
All you need do is take a look at western culture
Which was handed to us by,‘The Great Beasts’ disciples
Are people any happier practising sin like behaviour?
Wouldn’t the Gospels serve us better as archetypes?
Crowley himself died bankrupt and drug addicted
But his followers ignore that to hold him on high
After all didn’t the Beatles sing about Sgt Pepper
While saying that the end of Christians was nigh?
I am not saying we have to believe the whole bible
Or even that having good fun is against the law
All I know is that my son appreciates a strong hand
To guide him away from his inclination to flaw
Sure, there will be times when he demonstrably rebels
Like any good father I let him play and explore
I trust in the fact that if I show him the right way
When he grows up, he will know the correct score
The fact is that whether we like it or believe or not
There are guidelines in place that are for our own good
Maybe just cutting them down to the simplest one
Loving from the heart will transform everyone’s mood
So next time you want to log on to a webcam show
With one of gods divine holy creatures degrading herself
Close down the mental chatter of Crowley’s manifesto
Ask your conscience are you proud of yourself?
For if you listen closely maybe not to words but feelings
Things we are not taught to believe in at school anymore
You will know what is right and what your father expects
It is now up to you if you choose to consciously ignore
Of course, I don’t know if for your freedom of thought
You will be made to suffer for eternity in a lake of fire
I can only see a future where if we don’t accept responsibility
The consequences for our actions are looking quite dire
For if I have told my son a million and one times
Not to do something and he continues to disobey me
There comes a point when I will say enough is enough
Threaten to send him to his room or put him over my knee
At this point he realises that what he has done is wrong
He begs me that he will be good if I leave him alone
After he recognises who is the boss, he gives me a kiss
Are we all too stubborn and un-childlike to repent and atone
