He didn’t know where I was taking him again and certainly didn’t expect a gig in Falkirk. When we got to the Town Hall Car Park I told him what we were doing, although he seemed more concerned with getting taken to Tesco for me to buy him Sweeties.
When he saw the average age of the crowd and the fact that the band were in the same age bracket he wasn’t overly impressed, thinking he had came to an OAP convention.
However, as the band got into their set and played Nights In White Satin by The Moody Blues for their 3rd song, he slowly began to come around and I think ended up enjoying the evening, despite himself.

On the way out I spotted a poster for the Legendary Scottish Singer, Sydney Devine, so I had to get a selfie with it.
There is a joke that goes, ‘What has one hundred tapping feet and 3 teeth?’
‘The Front Row of a Sydney Devine concert’.
You can see why the joke is true at a clip from his performance in Falkirk last year.
In fact, tonight’s audience was pretty much the same and my son was amused by the Grannies dancing at the end of the night. I had initially thought of going to the gig with my Step Dad but my Mother didn’t allow him to go as they had made other plans.
He would have loved it, especially as they finished the evening with a song by The Cryin’ Shames called Please Stay, which is one of his all time favourites that in fact I had never heard before he introduced me to it.
In fact, the band said they had had a special request for it and they had never heard it before either. They explained that it used to be the last song of the evening when if you hadn’t scored with a chick you approached almost any one for a slow dance to it, in a last desperate bid.
Just prior to them playing it, I had been told to stop filming by the guy who does the bands website but I had to take some footage for my step dad but unfortunately by being discreet about it the camera work turned out a bit shabby.
Still you can check out the highlights of the evening below, most of which has decent camera work, although I had to film it on my mobile as I had forgotten to take my good camera. Doh!
