It was Saturday night so I popped into town to see if anyone was around for a beer or two. As I got off the bus in the centre of town there was a concert going on at Cumhuriyet Mehdanı but although the place was packed it wasn’t really my cup of tea so I headed down to King Bar.

On arriving there it was good to see Roar sitting with Levent. Roar had been away working for a while so it was great to catch up with him while listening to the musicians, who consist of a father and his two sons, playing in the outside area.

Erol had also been there a while with Roar so they were quite merry when Erol’s wife turned up. She was good fun too but around 12pm they called it a night, after sharing some lovely smoked Mackerel with me and Roar, which they purchased from a guy who turned up at the bar with a bag of them to sell.

Roar and I were in deep conversation about Anton Levey the founder of the Church of Satanism and Aleister Crowley when I looked up and saw Hayati. He came and joined our table for a while so Lucifer took a back seat.

Hayati went inside to join the young ravers and this lady came and sat beside us. She was a Couchsurfing host to the young guy from Brazil who was celebrating his 21st birthday. He was getting a plane in about 4 hours but that didn’t stop us from telling him to get in there and try his luck. He didn’t have any though and so they left around 3am.

Still Roar and I had some things we felt we needed to discuss so we got some more beer and persisted in our quest to discover the meaning of life. At around 4am, we called it quits and said we would pick up from where we left off on another night. We were so close as well.

I then headed for a bus with my red face, which had caught the sun at Sandland that day. I caught up with Snow White and the 7 Dwarves at a new park area not far from the Elevator which takes you down to King Bar. I think my nose may be even more redder than Sneezy’s.

As there wasn’t exactly a flow of buses at 4.30am I started walking towards Konyaaltı getting as far as the Rixos Hotel. I stuck my thumb out just on the off chance of getting a lift and what do you know, the second car came stopped for me. It had a guy and a girl in it so I thought it pretty safe. The guy next to me in the photo we picked up at the Migros Bus stop as he also had his thumb out.

It was decided that we would go for some Çorba (soup) together and we stopped off at a quite busy restaurant considering the time. Somehow I got onto the subject of the Legal Name Fraud and ended up boring the arse of the driver for a good 10 minutes or so. Poor guy, he couldn’t even enjoy his soup. I need to learn to reign it in a bit sometimes even if I have had a drink or six.

The dropped me off on the main road and as I was walking back to my apartment I noticed an ambulance and about 5 police cars. On getting closer I saw a dented car and a motorbike that had obviously been hit about 20 metres away. Even at 5 in the morning with hardly any cars on the road they still managed to have an accident. Let’s hope the people involved are ok.

Here is a video I made after seeing the crash scene as I walked to my house.

So ended another good night in Antalya.
