I met Aaron when I was through in Edinburgh to see The Media Whores at Bannermans and he was playing in the adjacent room before they came on.

I made a video of a few of his songs that night and done the usual facebook friend thing which led to Instagram following down the road.

He sent me a pm on Insta a couple of months ago saying that I should start a podcast which I do hope to do sometime, it is just not very feasible while I live in my Mothers house.

I saw that he was playing a gig in Glasgow at CitizinM and did think about going to it but I am a bit strapped for cash these days so decided that I should skip it.

However, when he contacted me to offer to put me and a friend on the guest list that was too good an offer to turn down so I gladly accepted.

I contacted my friend Tom who lives in Glasgow to see if he wanted a free ticket and also to see if he would accept me as a guest in his spare room. I am happy he said ok to both.

When we got to the gig I told the doorman that I was on the guest list and he didn’t even bother checking it, he just said ‘Yeah, you are on the guest list’. I must have that look about me…as a tight bastard.

There were a couple of support acts on the Bill that night, the first one being Caitlin Buchanan who I had videoed at the first Clusterfuck Circus gig at Nice N Sleazy a couple of months ago.

I suggested to Tom that we sit in the front row so that I could set up my tripod so that I didn’t have to hold my camera and get a sore arm and he was happy to do so and although the seats weren’t the most comfortable Caitlin soon took our minds off that as she really impressed the crowd with he songs and in particular her stunning voice.

Next up were Between Brothers who said that this was only their 6th gig together. Their songs were pretty cool and they had some good banter between them as they tuned up but their harmonies were exceptional. I am sure they must get The Everly Brothers/Simon and Garfunkel comparisons quite a lot.

I spoke to Aaron at the Bar when we arrived and he was a bit nervous that not enough people would turn up because it was absolutely pishing down outside but he needn’t have worried as there was a decent sized crowd and they were all very enthusiastic in showing their appreciation of his songs.

This guy in particular, I think his name was Brian, was very vocal in support of Aaron. He had come through from Edinburgh for the gig even though he said that Aaron plays in his local bar every second Sunday.

He is a big fan of Aaron and joined in for most of the song Go On Yerself from Aaron’s first album.

Here are the videos I shot of each performance that evening.

I hung around for a chat with Aaron after the gig and my friend Tom was also impressed and said that it is a shame he is not better known as his talent certainly deserves more recognition.

Tom and I headed back to his apartment and stayed up shooting the shit and playing the newly released Memphis Session version of the Primal Scream album Give Out But Don’t Give Up until about 3 am when I eventually when to bed.

His grandchildren sometimes stay there so I discovered a few masks in the bedroom and so of course it was my duty to try a few of them on and take selfies.
