So after spending a few days Paper Chasing I got my sons Residence Permit by agreeing to wear a Kilt and tour the Head Offices of the main officials in Antalya as a photo opportunity to promote Migrants Day which was in a couple of days.
When I arrived I got to meet some of the other members of staff at the Residence Permit offices as well as the other people who were representing their countries.
We then headed off to Antalya Valiliği building to meet the Governor.
Here I am with 4 members of the office and the Russian, Sudanese and African representatives.
Despite my limited Turkish the Governor liked my patter.
We had a nice chat in one of the plush rooms in the building while I tried to keep my mouse in it’s cage.
Then time for another group photo which included the Governor and the head of the Antalya Immigation office.
Our tour hadn’t finished yet though as we were taken to the new Council Buildings to meet some important person there.
I could have just waited outside the office with the secretary though.
Eventually we met the main dude and I grabbed his gift bag hoping for some Raki but alas, not. I cracked a few good jokes in the office though which he and the crew appreciated. It’s amazing what you can get away with as a man in a tartan skirt.
Then we went to meet Prof. Dr. Mustafa ÜNAL, the Rector of Akdeniz University and drank even more Çay. I asked if the water he offered was Raki, but alas not.
After all the Çay we were drinking together we were starting to get to know each other well.
The promotional pictures appeared on the Government website later that day.
This also appeared but the link has since died.
At the end of the day we were told that there was an opportunity for some of us to go to Ankara 2 days later for the main event in Turkey to celebrate Migrants day and so I threw my hat into the ring for that.
Here’s hoping they can arrange it as I could do with a Jolly!
The Photos
Cheers!
