My son ordered £170 Nike trainers with his Xmas money, which I wasn’t too impressed about as he still wants to go to gigs and get me to pay for the two of us, funny that eh.
He had to wait until 3.30pm for them to get delivered on a Sunday afternoon and then when they arrived demanded to be taken out in my new car and entertained, which was very thoughtful of him I’m sure.
So for the sake of peace and quiet I thought I would take him for a walk around Linlithgow Loch and so he left his new shoes in the house but after leaving I realised it would soon be dark and so headed back to South Queensferry, where I had taken him a few weeks ago.
I parked up at the opposite end of the town so we could walk through the Town Centre as we never had time to do that on our last visit.
At the car park area was this commemorative stone which in all my years living there I had never noticed, at least not consciously.
We then took a walk to the end of the Harbour where I had visited with his Mother many years ago dressed as Hamish McTavish.
In all the times I have come here I can never remember actually seeing anyone on a boat or taking a boat in or out the harbour but I guess they must do occasionally.
I did think about taking gloves but decided against it, much to my regret when I got the camera out to do a bit of filming as it was pretty damn cold and made me thankful that I didn’t take part in the Loony Dook which takes place to the right of this picture below at New Year, although after seeing some of the photos in this article maybe it wouldn’t have been such a bad idea after all. 😉
We then walked through the High Street past the Rosebury Hall where I used to go to Under 18 Discos in my Hawaii Shirts, stay press trousers and coasters every Saturday night. I can remember being the only ‘normal’ person to stay on the dancefloor to headbang, albeit with a crew cut hairstyle, when the Heavy Metal dudes came up for their 2 songs every week.
This is the main street which when I was younger was a normal road and then they dug it up and replaced it with a cobbled street to give it a more quaint authentic look, but it looks like that was doing too much damage to the suspension of cars and they have now put these stones in place.
When we got to the end of the street the Chippie that I was taking my son to turned out to be closed which did not amuse him one little bit.
Fortunately we discovered another one back where we started the walk but unfortunately we had to eat the dinner my mother prepared for us when we got home and we were both fit to burst by the end of it.
Here is a short video of the walk, please excuse the wind noise on the first section at the harbour area.

Cheers!
