I must be getting old before my time
For today is the last day of the year
The alcohol was pouring out the shops
But I don’t want to drink a single beer
Or maybe I am just a boring bastard
That doesn’t know how to revel
I used to be able to drink with the best
Now I am no longer a friend of the devil
I just don’t see what we’ve got to celebrate
Another year with ever increasing job cuts
The government screwing us for every penny
While the media kick us in the proverbial nuts
How long are we going to be subjugated?
Are we just going to get dumber and dumber?
Shouldn’t we consider more mature alternatives
Than making ourselves number and number?
If we started taking back responsibility
For our health, education and government
Then when it comes to choosing how to celebrate
We may even show a little more discernment
Because we would have raised our consciousness
Society would be serving the whole
We would have a good reason to party
We could take drugs that nourish the soul
That’s how they done it long ago
The Pagans were not as daft as they’re made out
The used to partake in full moon orgies
Before the magic mushroom drought
These served the purpose of dissolving boundaries
Also helped us to worship the feminine
The meat they ate at the festival
Wasn’t loaded with poisonous adrenaline
If we went back to paying our respects to Gaia
I would be at the front of the queue
For I recently took a jungle intoxication
Even though I knew it would make me spew
The reason I did was because I was looking
For a connection to a higher dimension
I know some people drink Buckfast
Which I admit for me, has the same retention
But the effects are very different
One of them gets you totally out your tree
The other one offers spiritual insights
From a giant mutated alien bee
So I guess I am not really a party pooper
I just want a deeper celebratory meaning
Because I find waking up in a pool of red vomit
More than just a little bit demeaning
Now I am off to walk my mother’s dog
While listening to an educational podcast
For these days I find that learning
Is the ultimate brain stimulation blast
So I wish you all a Happy NewYear
And the will to empower your dreams
Then hopefully one NewYear very soon
It will have divinely inspired themes
