Craig Campbell is a Canadian comedian who has been doing stand-up since the mid-nineties. Originally from Calgary, he co-hosted Ed’s Night Party on Canadian TV, performed live with Jim Carrey and appeared on Just for Laughs before making the move to the UK where he now lives in Devon. Over here he has appeared on Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow on BBC One, Russell Howard’s Good News on BBC Three and supported Frankie Boyle on his 2010 tour. He was also part of a comedy trio called The Dinks with Tony Law and Dan Antopolski. If his name sounds familiar from another post on this site, that’s because Craig is the man who convinced fellow Canadian Tom Stade to come to the UK, telling him the British would get his humour. He was right.
I saw Craig’s posts during Convid on facebook and I had to reach out to him for a chat. I have since interviewed him a few more times and met up with him at a gig he performed at in Motherwell recently.
Here is our latest chat with the others available below.
Craig is one of those comedians who is impossible not to like. He describes himself as looking good in the wind, has a well-known love of wearing shorts regardless of the weather, and Scottish audiences in particular seem to have a real bond with him. He has sold out runs at the Edinburgh Festival multiple times and continues to tour the UK to packed houses.
