Education is designed to make you conform
To knock the individual right out of you
Disobedience will not be tolerated
In the Monday to Friday, nine to five zoo
You are being taught how to fit into the system
Boredom you come to accept as a part of your day
What’s important is that you appear on time
Don’t answer back and dutifully obey
What a fucked up planet we live on
Millions controlled from the cradle their graves
Self-perpetuating nonsense is rife
All designed to satisfy docile wage slaves
How long are we going to kid ourselves
About the intention of our masters?
We send our kids to school to be brainwashed
Reward them when they repeat the standard answers
If it weren’t so pathetic
It would be rather funny
But then again what choice do we have?
The world runs on dirty money
What about things like being happy and fulfilled
Self-expression or even self-love?
Well, don’t worry about them
They’ll be knocked out of you with the hammer from above
But strange as it may seem
I do have a glimmer of hope
The internet is spreading new ideas
As long the youth don’t abuse the dope
We are told that the sixties dream failed
That there’s no point in even trying
But I realised when I read about the gulags
That the freedoms that we have right now are the equivalent
to flying
I think it’s important that we realise
To see how far we’ve come
Then we can co-ordinate our future actions
Give some hope to our disfranchised young
