Living in a country where I can’t legally work
Right now, I manage to live off my saving
But things are not that great
I am about to go stark barking raving

I need a change in my daily routine
Otherwise, I will kill someone
You would think not having a job
Would be everyone’s idea of fun

In theory I can please myself
Do whatever I want with my day
But instead, I sit in front of a computer
Dreaming of the day I stray

I am living a life of extreme boredom
It is draining my life force
I need to find a pursuit with purpose
Cause I am heading for a divorce

Every day I have to look at her face
Give her what she wants
Not in the bedroom department
We are too familiar with each others haunts

Instead, I just lock myself away
Kid myself on it will all work out
Whenever I mention going home
I end up caving in to her pout

The lack of interaction with people
Isn’t improving my demeanour

I used to be a sociable human being
Now I can’t even talk to my neighbour

I have lived here for 3 eternal years
I still can’t talk the native language
It is like walking around every day
Wearing a big, huge mouth bandage

I hate myself for not studying hard
Making that my primary priority
I guess a perverse part of myself
Loves being in a solo minority

But probably the real reason
Is that I do not belong here
I just had to get away from Scotland
Cause I was drinking too much beer

But now I am well and truly dried out
This country is pretty damn hot
And because I am on a shoe string budget
I would need a loan to get a shot

Being here has served its purpose
But now it is time to move on
Universe where can I serve you best?
I need to find a new dawn

I do have some hopes and dreams
That I really want to fulfil
But a large part of me questions myself
If I have the balls or the skill

Of course, money is a problem

I couldn’t work again as a slave
Unless I believed in the toil
I would rather dig my own grave

Then there is the dreich weather
That seems everyone’s biggest concern
I have to admit it is an issue
For Scottish weather I do not yearn

I don’t really want my nerdy son
Hanging around with a bunch of neds
Like for instance me and my pals
Who spent most of our youth off our heads

But sometimes no matter how hard you try
To fit into another culture
At the back of your mind, you can’t help wondering
If everyone is a Turkey vulture?

To be honest this place is great
The clothes are cheaper than cheap
The food tastes like food
Yet I still want to uncontrollably weep

I will take that as a definite sign
That something needs to change
So sometime soon one way or another
It is time for me to permanently estrange

Cheers!
