Another day doing nothing
Feeling my tension rise
Until now when I release
My secret inner cries
I have so many options
Yet my mind allows so few
It would prefer I was stuck
In a bowl of treacle stew
I am trying to be patient
Mercury was in reverse
But if I maintain this inertia
I’d as well be in a hearse
I know I have work to do
That will give my life meaning
I just wish I knew what it was
Even if it’s window cleaning
I was born with innate talents
That must be allowed to grow
The reason why my life’s a mess
I focused on earning dough
Every time I went to work
I felt a sickness in my soul
For years I did my best to ignore
That giant gaping hole
I don’t know why I bothered
Slaves will never be rich
Instead, I should have focused on
Scratching my pleasurable itch
But now I do not have a job
I have nothing to rely on
Except the fact that I am here
And that the past is gone
So I am going to go to bed now
Tomorrow I can start again
Meditating on how I can be of service
To help to ease our spiritual pain
Selfish goals no longer make sense
We are all in this together
What would be the use in crying
About my dirty boots of Spanish leather?
Thank you for taking the time
To read my nightly rhymes
I hope my writing gives you hope
In signs of troubled times
It is good to find like-minded people
Who do not constantly whine
For I think that is our biggest problem
We are too afraid to shine
So let’s encourage each other
Someone needs to lead the way
Otherwise, what would be the point
Of living another day?
For when you know the truth
It can be heavier than a burden
Remember you are here for a purpose
So make sure your hearts don’t harden
Always keep the faith
That things will turn out alright
Because if enough of us do, then it will
That is all, goodnight
Cheers!
