So after spending a week in Antalya it was time to head back to Marmaris to continue working selling Turkish goods online for a local business man. Of course, the only difference was that Aynur and I were now officially Mr & Mrs, even though technically I don’t buy into any of the legal name crap, sometimes you have to play along.

We arrived back on the Friday and on the Saturday there was a Jumble Sale at an Expat’s house where all the proceeds raised were to go to buy the street cats some food. Aynur and I had our first fight as a married couple, well at least for the purposes of the camera we did.

Afterwards we took a walk around the Bar Street area as we headed to the beach.

After my escapades sleeping on a neighbours doorstep I have been put off drinking but here is an advert which claims you need to be drunk to tell people you love them, which to be honest I find pretty sad.

There was a poster at one of the bar with lots of Rap dudes and I thought it would make a cool selfie. I associate myself with the conscious rap artists rather than the sell outs.

I don’t like paying for sunbeds at the beach so we found a place where they are free but you have to buy a drink at the restaurant that they are associated with on the beachfront. Fortunately this time we managed to dodge even buying a drink as no waiter approached us. That made the Scotsman in me very happy.

Walking back to the bus stop we spotted Hotel Honeymoon so of course that was an obligatory selfie, seeing as how we had just got married a few days previously. Maybe one day we will have an official holiday and call that our real Honeymoon.

Aynur wanted to go back to Bar Street and Arena nightclub in particular to dance to some more, at least for me, torturous music. It was bad enough when I had to be there as part of the Hotel job but to go there voluntary didn’t make me overcome with joy but I put a brave face on it as sometimes you have to self sacrifice some things to keep your partner happy and it wasn’t a bad view watching her dance on the table.

While in there I spotted Umut who was one of the Animators from the Hotel. I had said on facebook that I would maybe meet up with him again and indeed I did. I never met any of the others again before I left Marmaris as they weren’t there that night and we left about a week later.

I left because I was told there was an opportunity to work in a school back in Antalya and I clarified all the details with the person who was going to interview me about the job. He said he couldn’t interview over the phone and I would have to return to Antalya to talk in person. After quitting one job and coming back to Antalya it turned out they couldn’t offer me the job after all. Let’s just say he is a fucking idiot and leave it at that.

On our last night there my boss took Aynur and myself out for a drink and a farewell chat. I felt really bad for leaving him as he was a total gentleman and very hospitable. Hopefully he will find someone to replace me who can help him succeed in his business. We sat at a cafe for some time and Aynur was happy to get some Cheesecake while I stuck to the Efes.

My son had requested a fridge magnet from Marmaris and my boss had told me of a shop which sells illuminated ones, which obviously an 10 year old boy would love. It wasn’t far from where we were sitting so we took a walk there and on the way I spotted the Turkish version of Billy Connolly’s Big Slipper.

As I mentioned the job back in Antalya didn’t materialise so I have to find another way to make a living and although I felt sad in some ways to leave Marmaris, overall and mainly for the sake of being close to my son again, I am happy to be back.
