After I got my Stalls ticket for Lucinda Williams in Glasgow and bought our flights to Belfast for Emma and I to see her there, Emma managed to get a ticket for Glasgow in the Balcony. My car has issues so it is in the garage just now, which meant we had to get the train to Glasgow, so I took advantage of not driving and instead of going in for the support act, I took Emma to the pub next door for a couple of Guinness. Well, she had cola.

We met, Ben de la Cour, on the way in to the Pavillion at the merch desk and he recognised me from the front row in Belfast, he said, ‘You’re the guy who gave me back my pick’. Emma ran upstairs and I took my spot in row G. I was very animated during Lucinda’s performance but everyone else was like a statue.

After only seven songs I couldn’t hold me pee in any longer and had to go to the toilet during the song, ‘Fruits of my Labour’. On returning, I decided to leave my jacket on my seat and just dance up the back. If they were playing the Barrowlands the place would have been rocking but it was polite applause after each song and statues in between. I, on the other hand was dancing my tits off. Here is a quick vblog from the evening.

Here is the footage Emma got from the Balcony.
I had already asked security if I could dance down the front and the lady gave me a firm no, and said I could dance up the back. So, that’s what I did. However, I thought it would be ok to go down the front for the last song, but to be honest, I was too eager and timed it badly. I should have waited until some of the crowd at least stood on their feet but there was no guarantee of that so I went down there and started rocking out around the start of the song.

Sure enough, the same security lady came along and told me to go back to my seat. As I respect Lucinda too much to spoil her vibe I pogo’d all the way to the back of the stalls, with the lady following me for every bounce, while Lucinda sang, ‘Rockin’ in the Free World’. Oh, the irony.

Like when I got thrown out of the Lou Reed gig….
…I got a mention in a Lucinda review. In fact, I get referred to twice as I was the guy rockin’ to, ‘Lowlife’, too!
