It seems like too hard a choice
To ask a human being to make
Great if you choose the right path
Beyond tragic if you make a mistake
The Bible believers would have us believe
That if we do not accept Jesus Christ
Into our hearts as our Saviour
Then by the devil we have been enticed
On the face of it this seems preposterous
That a man died on a cross for our sins
Apparently if we don’t follow his teachings
Then we won’t be on the side that wins
Are we really pawns in a spiritual battle
Between god and the tempter of man?
When you look at all the evil in the world
Maybe Jesus is part of gods plan
We won’t be able to say he didn’t warn us
It is all there in black and white
Hank Williams read the good book
Soon sang,‘I Saw The Light’
On the other hand maybe Jesus was an adept
Who had mastered spiritual laws
He was just pointing out how we can
Overcome our human flaws
Maybe there is a science behind ascension
That is what the Bible describes
If we want to get to know our father
We have to put our trust in the scribes
I guess it is time for me to find a copy
Of this much read and revered book
Or maybe just say,‘Fuck it, I believe in Jesus’
To get me off the sinful hook
There is absolutely no doubt about it
I have done almost every sin going
I don’t need to consult a book about that
It is just a natural part of growing
At least it is in this holographic world
Where there is nothing but temptation
To live a life as pure as the snow
Would be to live in unbearable frustration
Maybe that is why we need Jesus
The preachers claim he can show us the way
To purify our sins and live our life
Celebrating each god given day
When he comes back to this godforsaken earth
To see how his children are doing
After he has wiped the slate clean of sinners
The preachers can stop all their wooing
Then we really will have found peace
From all the forces that seek to control
We can give Jesus a pat on the back
Saying thank god we choose you to extol
